2012 EP Recording - Day 2

Today we finished the tracking for all drums and bass sections.

We are most definitely on track.

I bashed a tambourine for a little while. James and I belted a Floor Tom into submission.

Perhaps I should have been a drummer?

2012 EP Recording - Day 1

Things I learned today:

Don’t ever underestimate Brad. He has the element of surprise on his side.  It was a 9am start at the studio, and he was on time.

I can play along to a click track much better than two years ago.

The couch in the Real2Reel Studio is potentially the most comfortable I have ever sat on - and it was going to be discarded in a skip bin had James Newhouse not rescued it.

My brother and I can beat the bottom ends of drum sticks onto the wooden exterior of a drum in time with each other, but not without smirking.

The recording is the easy part. The preparation over the last 6 months - 1 year has been the hard part.

I am excited.

The Recording for my 2012 EP has official begun.

This song is called ‘Each Day Like The First’. It too will be on my upcoming EP. There will be strings, keys, all kinds of magical sounds by the talented Timothy Nelson & Hayley-Jane Ayers.

This is a new song, called ‘Afraid’. It will be on my upcoming EP, due for release in September. This track will be backed by my band.

I am super excited to announce that I will be supporting Holly Throsby on part of her Australian Tour in March.
March 31st - Norfolk Basement in Fremantle.
There is no one I’d rather play alongside. Holly Throsby is phenomenal - a super talented musician and an exceptionally talented lyricist. I’m very happy to be sharing the stage with someone I respect so greatly, and who’s music has been a large influence on mine.
Happy times.
I sure hope you come along to this one. If you have never seen Holly Throsby live, then you are indeed missing out on something very special. Her band ‘The Hello Tigers’ are ridiculously talented. Watching her drummer, Bree, play is like watching magic. She is all over that kit in so many ways.
See you there lovely people!
